Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill Review

Our Bowflex Series 3 treadmill review looks at the entry level model from Bowflex - it's reasonably priced, but how does it perform?

Well, compared to much of the competition it stacks up pretty well.

If you want a treadmill to run on, the Series 5 and Series 7 are better options, but for brisk walks and the occasional jog the Series 3 is just fine.

It's pretty much the same machine as its more expensive stablemates, and shares many of the features that makes the Bowflex range of treadmills such big sellers.

Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill Review - What's it Like...?

With a recent price drop, the Series 3 is now a much more attractive option for buyers in the market for a treadmill under $1,000.

It's well designed, solidly built and shares the good looks of the rest of the range.

However, the 1.75 HP continuous duty motor whilst both quiet and refined is a little pedestrian and strains somewhat when approaching its 10 mph top speed.

Plenty enough for walking on, but graduate to the Series 5 if you fancy running on a regular basis.

The 12% incline on the deck will add some intensity to your workout though, and the motor becomes less of an issue when walking up a gradient.

The running surface measures 54" x 20", generous in this price range, but again the motor struggles a little with the largish belt.

The 'Strike Zone' deck offers a better cushioning system than you often find in this price range, with both a soft landing and firm take off that should prove kind to your lower body joints.

The Bowflex Series 3 treadmill folds up and is compact enough to stow away easily between workouts.

The treadmill is equipped with a simple, easy to read LED console display, six workout programs and a pulse grip heart rate monitor.

The warranties are miles better than most rival brands offer, with 15 years on the frame, 10 years on the motor, two years on the parts and a year on the labour - not brilliant, but not at all bad for the price.

Whilst the treadmill previously retailed at $1,199, you can now get it for $999 direct from the Bowflex website.

  • OVERALL RATING - 61/100
  • The Series 3 is a decent little treadmill for walkers and is streets ahead of much of the competition in this price range.

Whilst not quite as good value as the Series 5 and 7 treadmills, the price reduction has certainly helped and makes the Bowflex Series 3 is a good bet if you need a well built machine for under $1,000 for a moderate workout.
