Epic 600MX Treadmill Review
Our Epic 600MX treadmill review assesses a decent machine, which if you can get it at the right price represents a real bargain - how well does it shape up?The 600MX lists for $1,499, but with some sizeable discounts available online you can get it for under $800 - making it a very competitive machine in a crowded market. It's far from perfect, but for this kind of money you could do a lot worse. Still, the competition is fierce, so how does it rate against the best of the rest?
Epic 600MX Treadmill Review - What's it Like...?
With the Epic brand and the big discounts on offer, Icon Health and Fitness has grabbed this end of the market by the scruff of the neck and given it a big shake. This is a pretty good line up of treadmills aimed at the home user and offering more than you'd expect for under $1,000. For me the 600MX is the better buy when compared to the 450MX, as for $50 more you get a bigger motor - a 2.5 HP continuous duty unit. This should prove sufficient for walkers and joggers and manages a max speed of 12 mph - although it gets a little noisy when pushed hard. As with the 450MX you get a good sized belt and the 55" x 20" walking area provides plenty of room to stretch out on. The big 2.5" rollers reduce friction and strain on the belt and are allied with a decent cushioning system that absorbs the effects of joint impact well. The deck inclines to a 12% gradient if you need to include a few 'hilly' sections in your workout for added intensity. The deck folds up completly on the Epic 600MX treadmill making storage between workouts easy with the compact SpaceSaver design. The one touch speed and incline controls on the arms are well positioned and within easy reach so that changing workout settings won't disturb your concentration. The standard back lit ClearView 7" x 10" console display is common to many Icon treadmills and offers a functional, easy to read user interface. The 12 workout programs will provide much needed variety to your fitness routines, although whether you'll actually use them all is a moot point. There are pulse grip heart rate monitors on the handles and you also get cooling fans as standard. The build quality overall is OK, but you can see where corners have been cut with a few cheaper components on display here and there. The warranties on the 600MX are a big improvement for Icon treadmills in this price range. The 12 years on the motor is generous but the two years on the parts and one year on the labour could be better. The 600MX retails for $1,499, but our review found it almost half price for $799 at WorkoutWarehouse.com
Epic 600MX Treadmill Review - How Does it Rate...?
First off, don't even think of buying the Epic 600MX treadmill at its list price - it's OK but it's not worth $1,499! At under $800 though, it becomes a serious proposition. Save yourself some money and buy one online direct from the manufacturer at WorkoutWarehouse.com
