Spirit Z700 Treadmill Review
Our Spirit Z700 treadmill review evaluates a fixed deck treadmill built to perform in a commercial environment - how did we rate it?Very highly, if the results of our review are anything to go by. Granted, the Z700 is not designed for heavy commercial use, but it will be more than capable of dealing with your daily workout, and maybe that of your family, friends and neighbours, too! So is this yet another well built, value for money treadmill from those nice people at Spirit?
Spirit Z700 Treadmill Review - What's it Like...?
To fold, or not to fold - that is the question. Well the question facing many treadmill buyers looking for a treadmill to use at home.Companies such as Spirit and Sole, build treadmills aimed primarily at the home user market and offer both folding or non-folding treadmills. The choice of which format to go for really boils down to how much space you have at home and whether you need to store your treadmill away whilst it's not in use. If space is at a premium go for a fold-up. If you have the space, though, a non-folding treadmill will be slightly cheaper and doesn't have the added complexity of a folding mechanism to break. They also tend to be a little more stable overall. If you decide on a treadmill with a fixed deck, the Z700 would be a good choice. It has a big 3.0 HP motor, which is capable of a respectable running speed of up to 12 mph and a 15% power incline for an even tougher workout. The 55" x 20" running area isn't huge, but should accommodate most runners - I certainly had plenty of room to stretch out on. The Cushion Flex Deck wrapped my joints in cotton wool and provided a responsive running surface. The big 2.75" rollers ensured that the 1" thick, 2 ply belt ran smoothly and minimised any tension on the belt, which bodes well for the belt's life expectancy in the longer term. The Spirit Z700 treadmill comes with 10 workout programs - six preset, two user defined and two heart rate control programs. Heart rate control is a handy feature to have on a treadmill as once you've keyed in your preferred training heart rate, the speed of the belt is adjusted automatically to keep your heart rate in the optimum training zone. The hands-free telemetry belt enables the treadmill to monitor your heart rate, as do the pulse grip monitors. There's also a heart rate graph that displays on the user friendly six window, tri-colour dot matrix console. The console also features a 16 character message window. I found the 10 one touch program keys on the handles along with the 12 quick speed and elevation controls handy as they negated the need for me to reach out to the console whilst running. For gadget lovers, there's also an MP3 interface and stereo speakers for on board entertainment when the going gets tough! Spirit's warranties are excellent in this price range and include a lifetime warranty on the frame, 30 years on the motor, five years on the parts and electronics and one year on the labour. Whilst the Z700 usually lists for $2,199, our Spirit Z700 treadmill review found it reduced to $1,699 at Elite Fitness Equipment.com with free shipping within the US - quite a saving.
